A Question arrived courtesy of December 2022’s full Moon in Gemini. As I was playing with sound that evening with the Moon beaming above me, I found myself repeating a simple pattern on the synthesiser, which mostly entailed holding down on a single key for nearly an hour, just listening to the circular movement it was making, leaning on it, peacefully, transfixed. Then, words arrived, stirring me onto something:
“I stood on the edge and I wondered...”
I made a recording of them that night and a video in the days that followed, releasing the work in celebration of the Winter Solstice, the darkest day, that year. A meditation on the Void as a primordial darkness, the no-thing, whence all things arise from and return to, and the challenge it can bring to the human consciousness when encountered.
